This is probably part of a bigger discussion, but why not have distance-based damage falloff?
Interesting. We do have this on a few weapons, both Shield Tank Combos as well as the Flame Throwers (Fire/Flame Tank 2nd seat, Firebug, FireHound).

But nothing on hitscan, eg. lasers/miniguns.

I get that... but it's still a team game. The teams that hunt together in packs tend to win, power in numbers. The ones that all split up on their own tend to lose. Some will never learn this. Hell even having a compentent gunner in a power vehicle...can change the whole map. I had a gunner in the ...

Some fog is a good idea.

For the non-technical folks, all the UT actors/objects have "Cull Distance" which is the distance beyond the game doesn't render it. Most are set reasonably to reduce strain on the engine. Fog works with this to "block" things that you can't see.

Ok I need to check Fire/Flame Tank lasers. They should have standard laser range 20000 UU like every other laser. For some reason last night on Valarna, they had way greater range. Ok just checked TraceRange=40000.000000 So must have been a reason I put it at 40000? Or maybe just forgot to update it...

It has the same mercury missiles from the wraith that crashed the server. The monte carlo like algorithm the trajectory calculation does for the artillery can go unstable and crash the server. Then there are the napalm missiles which each individual missiles burns for some time, with fast updates, ...

Omni already has a proliferation of overpowered vehicles that deal too much damage. Not saying it can't work, but a DOT or (if possible) a slow-effect would be more obvious and less likely to create uninteractive gameplay. Say it isn't so! And to think we've reduced the damage on nearly everything ...

I like the Basilisk type beam thing and Snarf's proposed battery changes. Both I think are good. With the beam, its visible, but more damaging and you could sustain fire..
