If you are using Win10 and your machine struggles with the latest Loadout test map, it might help to drop this dll into your UT2004 system folder.

Just curious, what does the dll file actually do?

As far as I understand, UT2004 is a DX8 game. This dll translates DX8 to DX9, making UT2004 a DX9 game.

When I play the loadout map it can stutter and slow down quite a bit. With the dll there it doesn't do that for me.

Ok, it definitely makes it a DX9 game. I tried the dll on my 2nd machine and it didn't work because I didn't have DX9 installed. After install it worked.

Good information! Did you have to register the dll using regsvr32?

Oh nope, nothing like that. You will need the directx9 runtimes installed also.

Thanks Snarf. I installed the v9 runtime from your link and that fixed the error. First thing I noticed was slightly improved frame rate & smoother movement. Graphics seem ever so slightly better also. Specially shoulder weapons. Has anyone told you that your the man? My many thanks!

Edit: Been playing offline all afternoon and the performance is very noticeable on large maps. Also the game loads in half the time that it used to.
