Random Map Option?

Any route to this? Vote for a random map to get selected and see what gets rolled?

I think the MIA server runs a mutator that does this. One of the map options is a special 'random' map.

I think an endless random map roll would be annoying for most (but I’d be down to try it). Im talking about an item on the map list, or a button, that lets you vote for a “random map” that an algorithm will choose. So if enough people are up for a random map, they can vote for the roll instead of having to choose an individual map. This might make a more fun sway against the usual maps.

So like the countdown ends: Dria got 6 votes, Slated got 2 Votes, Torlan got 1 vote, RandomMap got 7 votes… a random map begins to load.

That's a pretty good idea though. I think YEAHHHHHH is right, it might help get more maps voted... takes the pressure off of choosing a map or voting the lesser of 2 evils.

I modified RandomMap below to RandomMapOmni
I have it working, sort of. Basically it has a map that loads, and then immediately reloads a random map (from a list in its .ini file).

However this is a bit of a kludge, since it needs a "base map" to start.
I was thinking just load up Torlan, and then it immediately switches to what ever random map. Not so bad locally, but on the server there's the load delay while players connect....and we don't want to wait 20 seconds, then immediately switch.

But I have to test it on the server. Good news is its easy to test, I just make Crashmap "RandomMap.ut2" and off it goes.

Based on screen shot below, I think they must have modified MapVote?

There is an ONS-Random option on MIA, I am sure we can ask them.

So there's two things to do:

1. Make the CrashMap (which is really the starting map), Random (I have that more or less working, needs testing)

2. Get the setup needed for ONS -> Random Map Pick <-

Might be one in the same though.
