I could make a RhampedEdition of massD, removing all the aoe spam vehicles other than the mino. The aoe spam is my primary issue with the map, since it always devolves into spamming the other team's core, leaving their vehicles at low hp and/or griefing with the emp mine. Could also add some terrain in the middle so it isn't a flat kill zone, maybe some light rolling hills or something for cover. It would be interesting to play the map without having levis/megabadgers/omegas constantly spamming the nodes.

V1-TEST of MassD-RhampedEdition is on the google drive

Changes:
-Removed most of the AoE spam bullshit (omegas, megabadgers and all but 1 levi). Replaced omega with a yellowjacket, megabadgers with odins, and levis with a single lightning mech.
-Replaced the ion cannon with a warhawk. This is probably the only map where the warhawk is balanced due to all the anti air and openness.
-Removed the EMP mine. This shit needs to be thanos snapped from every map.
-Added the shields from Hyperblast to the core to prevent spawnkilling from across the map.
-Replaced the Kraken with the 10k hp version. Its also the only levi on the map now.
-Added an expansion to the core room containing 3 classic minos and an odin. This expansion has its own ramp out of the base, making it harder to spawnkill.
-Added terrain to the center flat zone of the map. Its no longer totally flat. Small hills provide cover and block line of sight, making the map less of an open area spamfest.
-Removed the vehicle blocking poles at the primaries. You can now drive vehicles inside the node buildings. This should let people who are wanting to vehicle dm still go to nodes without having to abandon their vehicle.
-Replace all the trickboards with node runners. This map was dominated by players who only flew around on these boards, grabbing the OMFG and link nuke and were impossible to hit without using AoE spam. Since most of the AoE spam is removed, the boards would absolutely wreck the balance. The node runners are fast, but are a lot more fair to hit.
-Added a king hellhound to the side primaries.
-Added a wraith to the core.

I don't know... A lot of what was removed, zipping around on hoverboards and grabbing nukes, restricted node access, AoE spam, EMP counters, etc. are what made the map tolerable and unique. But this now sounds more like the bastard hybrid spawn of HSH and a JY.

FR have you loaded up the map and tried it?
I haven't yet and curious if those observations are from just the comments or a map review?

I haven't loaded this on the server, since I want it to be reviewed first.

From the comments. I know a lot of others enjoyed the Megas, spamming with a Levi variant, attacking the Levi variants, or zooming around on hover boards.

I am strongly against this trend towards towards sniping, "Replaced omega with a yellowjacket, megabadgers with odins, and levis with a single lightning mech". It's not like the previous map did not have sufficient AA and do those stupid Mechs have to be on every map? And if you are spamming in a Levi, yeah, expect OMG or EMT coming your way. If anything made the map fun, it was those aspects and it certainly was different from most other maps.

Someone should really consult Azazel on changing this map since it appears to be his favorite. Do these changes really reflect optimizations desired by the people who vote for this map? Or is it to satisfy people who don't vote for it and thereby taking away a favorite from a "less represented" part of the community.

Ah yes, the community that just takes the Mino and Megabadger to the enemy core and spawn kill for frags. They should really be consulted on maps!

If they want a voice in which maps stay or go, they should come here to the forum and speak up and give their reasoning. Just because a map gets voted frequently doesn't mean it's a good map. I agree with pooty that a lot of the spammy maps get voted because we generally have mostly mid to low skill (or just plain lazy) players that feel like they can't compete unless they have a super-powered spam monster to drive around.

Democracy = mob rule, which means the minority gets ignored and run over. And that is no way to run a successful server. Not saying community input isn't important, but decisions about which maps stay or go should definitely not be decided simply by how often they get voted.

Join the forum. Azazel on MassD, get in mino spam and drive to cores, spamming all the way, repeat. It can be fun for him.
But I think it takes away from strategy....in favor of big cannon spam.

Yes, anything to push against this community that just sits in rail tanks, Odins, and Mechs and snipes for frags.
