Omni 1.0 are unchanged maps from the old server. Standard is what he's designating as a fairly even mix of ground vehicles and flyers, but not tons of OP versions of either.

Suggestions:
- Omni 1.0 could instead be OmniOG (original gangsta).
- Instead of STD, maybe StdMix makes more sense?
- ForestJunk definitely does NOT belong in the STD category... Rando-OP seems more appropriate.

And I'm not sure I agree with some of the maps being classified as DM i.e. Tanks-A-Lot, RandoTyrant (has several OP vehicles) and SpankArena jump out. Sure, there's a bit more DM going on with those maps than say MTMU KitchenSink, but I still don't think of those as DM style maps. I mean "Tanks" is in the map name, lol. And isn't TAL more of an OmniOG map? But either way those maps don't wear my hands out DM'ing like Bitchslap, Rail or Deathdome do.

It's a bit eye-opening seeing that DM maps are the 2nd most categorized next to Standard/Mix maps. I don't think snarf can complain we don't have enough DM maps anymore. We have tons of DM maps and prob over half the community doesn't typically want to play those. And we only have 4 flyer heavy maps on the server??? Actually, couldn't Hollon2 and Halloween be classified as AirPwr? Flyers dominate those maps. And maybe DryIce.

Because you can succeed on foot does not make a DM map.

TOL is not a DM map.
Suspense is not a DM map.

I'm not going through the whole list. Grendel, Rail, and Goliath are 'DM' maps. And how is SpamBox a DM map .

What does this accomplish? The same people always vote the same maps. Adding a prefix won't make them vote for it. Now it's going to be harder to find maps in the list of because of the prefixes.

There's subjective line on what's DM map vs Standard Map.
I can make the case either way for TAL,Suspense -- do people on foot make a larger difference or vehicles. Those two could just be more Standard.

SpamBox is well a bit unique, its close in DM..with one tank (eg. Goliath)
- ForestJunk definitely does NOT belong in the STD category... Rando-OP seems more appropriate.
Its missing nearly all the OP vehicles (Linkatron, Omega, Starbolt, Warhawk, MirageVulture etc. ) I specifically took out the really OP shit from AJY.

I guess at the end of the day its more or less subjective... I have no problem changing any of them, but it seems agreement on what's what is tricky.
nd we only have 4 flyer heavy maps on the server??? Actually, couldn't Hollon2 and Halloween be classified as AirPwr? Flyers dominate those maps. And maybe DryIce.
Yeah I think that makes sense.

Yeah a bit surprised as well as I was going thorugh the list.

I can take another pass at the list, that was my quick (30 minutes or so) first pass.

Updated Abbreviations:
DM - a more DM style (on foot map) Eg. MasterBath, Harbor, CaptGordons, this doesn't mean no vehicles, but its completely playable on foot, but focus is on foot movment and infantry vs infantry combat instead of focus on vehicles.
Rando - This has randomizer vehicle Loadouts
OP - lots of power vehicles (MassD, HSH, AJY, KS)
StdMix - Mix of Vehicles (flyers and Tanks), eg. standard ONS, but no so much its OP.
TMU - mostly/lots of tanks/ground vehicles (Desert JunkYard), little or no flyers.
Flyer - Lots of flyers (eg. Volcano high, SlatedWorld)
NoVeh - No Vehicles (Grendel Keep)
Omni1 - Essentially unchanged Omni Server 1.0 Maps, these could be a mix of the above, but really for the nostaligic old edits. (albeit with current vehicle fixes)

Where appropriate maps might have two abbreviations (eg. Rando-OP)

We good on abbreviations?

What does this accomplish?
The goal is that you might want to try a different style, but not everyone remembers what map is what, this gives you a bit of insight as to the type/theme of the map.

Downside is I could vote BridgeOfFate and players would vote it, not remembering it's 'DM'. Now I can't trick them

The no vehicle maps should be designated as DM. Most of those "DM" maps have more vehicles than a standard ONS map. Stronger vehicles too. It's just putting a label that's going to prevent it from getting voted by the majority now because of misinformation.

I think the categories are fine. Marking maps like Masterbath as DM makes sense, because while vehicles are important, the map is run by those who dm the tub and cabinet. Maps marked as NoVeh is great, because I know when to -leon-dmmap and f10. This change will be nice so that maps that people don't remember can be voted for if those players like the map's category.

So some discussion with a few players last night on the whole naming thing...

Got kind of thrown off with ONS-TMU-Dria (redirect issue aside...I wonder where i uploaded it to...but it sure wasn't the redirect.. )

Several players couldn't find it because it was ONS-TMU-XXXX however, someone did ask are there any good TMU maps that aren't randomizers...

There's a case to be made that using the Map name first allows you to sort and find favorite map names vs. some sort of category. I think I agree with that meaning all the "Dria"s will be together
ONS-Dria
ONS-Dria-Randomizer
ONS-Dria-TMU
ONS-Dria-TMU-Symmetric

And all the
ONS-Minus will be together.

So I think the rule should be this:
Map Name "root" meaning the map name (in this example eg. Dria)
Next comes the "Categories)
Updated Abbreviations:
DM - a more DM style (on foot map) Eg. MasterBath, Harbor, CaptGordons, this doesn't mean no vehicles, but its completely playable on foot, but focus is on foot movment and infantry vs infantry combat instead of focus on vehicles.
Rando/Randomizer - This has randomizer vehicle Loadouts (Depending on map name length)

Rando-OP)

Any other desigations will be after the above (eg. Mapper names, further descriptors etc.)

I think this with the map lists will help folks find what they want and understand the type of map even if they don't remember it.
