That’s a pretty fucking weak explanation. Coming from you, that tracks.

Explain what really happened starting with his ban, then how he stole every map and mod, created a duplicate Omni server and website, and subverted the community by trashing the Omni server and admins while flouting the ban using a GUID generator. Oh, and you refused to do anything about it. Then lifted his ban and did nothing while he continued to trash the server to his own end. You’re either extremely weak willed or you were helping him.

Omni is on life support. Once it’s dead, have fun playing on that racist psycho’s server. You becoming an admin and slowly taking control as pooty had less and less time marked the beginning of the decline of this server. Your legacy is the death of Omni.

It was clear, to me anyway, that Anon's server had less "clutter" associated wth its maps, but this clutter was exactly that the Omni crowd wanted. Lots and LOTS of bells and whistles. But it came with a cost of complexity and, at times, incompatibility. Why Anon's worked for me but not Onmi's is a question that more important than it sounds. How often has backward compatibility been discarded for modernity?
So just to share many of the same maps on Omni run on Anon's server as is. There's a few with some minor differences. But its all mostly the same including player favorite spam fests.

Evidence from the past 30 days shows that 8 out of the last 30 days had meaningful server play, or 26% of days. This is a drop from 100% of days before November.

Crowd seems to play more on Anon's server.... its basically a copy of our server, but he does have faster hardware.

But remember none of the Omni admins are admins there, so any compliments or complaints go to Anon.

The NFO server move took omni down for a week. It didn't really recover from that.

The downtime was bad timing.

But it was more than that.

There was previous admin drama, mostly around Enyo's toxic behavior.

There was quite a bit of chatter bitching about how our server was too slow, which could it be faster sure, does it matter all that much, meh its still very playable....and gets way less unregs at least for me.

And then there was a server that caused brand confusion, and still to this day creates some confusion about who's server (based on Gametracker id) is OmnipotentS.

But at the end of the day most people just play on either server.. the important thing is there's servers to play with all the stuff we love.

I try to, mostly unsuccessfully, to explain to my friends why I am so damn enthusiastic about a game that is more than two decades old. Younger players, in particular can’t see playing anything without bleeding edge graphics. I tell them about the custom maps, the mods…vehicles.. transformers for Gods sake! But mainly the team aspect. I spent the entire 90s playing FPS against bots. Granted, I haven’t played many newer games, but it seems the same today, except they aren’t bots. This game is what gets me going…gets my heart pounding, and a really close match is a thing of beauty! And once on a while I get to kill Anonymous…or Enyo..or one of the other great players. The personality clashes and rants mostly make me smile. I actually liked Guy when he would hound his team without mercy! Stupid monkeys… So, if I have been on a team with each of you at some point it kind of means at some level we’re on the same team. And THAT is difficult to find in this life

Everyone obviously stopped playing because I stopped playing.

Seriously though, my computer is currently disconnected. We've been moving stuff around in our house. I'll probably have the computer back up in a week or two. There are just a lot of potential barriers for me to get online, where if any single one is there, then I cannot play. I'll hop into Omni every chance I can get though. I never want this game to die and I honestly hope UT2004 can keep me occupied in the nursing home someday.

Well said, and I completely agree.

It's been hard for me to find a replacement for Unreal Tournament. I'm not into consoles; I want to play on my desktop. Deathmatch play is boring for me. I want collaborative team play, so I don't have to do all the work, and I can screw around if I want. A grassroots, organic community with a developer's modding base is key. Epic can only take the games so far, but it's the community-based mods that are the best. And this new nickel-and-dime-you-to-death-to-play model is total BS. It turns me off. The other draw from playing you guys for 2 decades is I know you, even tho we have never met in real life face to face. We have built friendships and history together. That's a super big part of why I hope the game stays around for longer.
