Microphone Key Bindings

Ok, so I am finally going to try out using a mic. I jumped on a DM server where there was one player. I have "Activate Mic" as page down key. I was able to press + hold and the other guy heard me ok.

All the other keys in the communication section are unbound. So my question is, using only the Activate Mic (press to talk) will I be talking public or team only? There are Public, Local and Team channels that are unbound. I have no idea what the local channel is for. The other two make sense. There there are toggle keys which adds to my confusion.

I believe 'local' means players near you in-game will hear you.

That makes sense. They should have named it Near By...
