ElecFields Feedback

Post by FuriousRabbit »

  1. Nodes 9 & 10 are too constrained
  2. I dislike the modifying of standard vehicles. We have enough variety in stock Omni vehicles or make a new one for all maps.
  3. Near the center, players were sinking halfway into the ground.
  4. Not sure what the point is of all the power tanks at the base.

Man if only Enyo did this instead of pulling what he did.

I might add some vehicle teleporters from the insides of 9 & 10 to the surface to allow for more ways in and out of that node. I agree its a bit cramped.

The modified vehicles are no hitscan variants of the bombers due to the bombers being way too op as they are. I like the mobility and bombing capabilities of the existing bombers, but them having hitscan just makes them way too op for most maps. These variants are in their own .u file, so they can be used in other maps/added to randomizers whenever. These variants are subject to balance tweaks just like any other vehicle if the need arises.

I think the 4 secondary nodes near the center need a blocking volume for the floor. That should fix the sinking problem.

The power tanks at the base originally had beefed up hp, but due to the bug in the factory used to adjust vehicle hp, they are just stock vehicles now. They still are useful to pull if all the fliers are taken, especially to retake the primary in the tower via the vehicle teleporter. The hospitaler and mino can supress the main 3 center nodes if positioned correctly.

I can merge the changes from anon's fixed version and the teleporters + center nodes in V3 once I get the link. The 4 new nodes seemed to helped a lot in terms of focusing the gameplay in the middle instead of it swinging wildly to one side once a team got a middle node.

I was happy Enyo did what he did but thought you at least deserved some feedback. You have a strange way of complaining about vehicles being overpowered and then countering it by making classes of vehicles ridiculous.

Don't get me started on the part of our community who vote for this stuff. They would be happy sitting in two stationary tanks with infinite health, endlessly shooting at each other, and thinking, "gameplay doesn't get any better than this." I see it now, that and link trains are the future of Omni.

I'm curious to know what about the bomber variants are ridiculous? An argument can be made that the bombers in general need to be toned down, but these variants are weaker than the original. The original ones are hitscan while these shoot projectiles, making them much less op in terms of dogfighting.

He's talking about 30000 HP Perses and 5000 HP Minos. Stop unilaterally changing the vehicles. Stop making spamfest nuke car and linker madness maps. Stop making your node layouts so convoluted the stains Rabbit mentioned will NEVER figure it out. THAT's why people refused to play your map last night. About 10 players went to spec after you forced it and literally my entire team was begging me to change it.

And then you decided to verbally lose your shit on me about it instead of just asking why I did it first.

One of the few times we see real teamwork and cooperation!

Nothing wrong with trying out new concepts.

WRT to node layouts -- I can tell you what I've observed, and sorry stains, but some maps are just too complex, nodes or otherwise. Most of the players prefer Atari 2600 Combat! style -- straight ahead and easy. The more complex maps just leave them confused -- I've made several that require more strategic thinking and we don't play them much...

My team didn't have a problem with it. Maybe it was your constant bitching that caused your team to want to quit? They won't want to play a map they don't understand while also listening to your whining. They will put up with one of the two, but definitely not both.

If the stains got their way all the time, we'd be playing nothing but junk/dria/minus, which you are fine with, but most aren't. Some of us want complex maps every so often. If I didn't start making maps, we'd still be stuck playing that boring ass shit every night and quite a few of the more experienced players have expressed they would or have started playing less if it was endless junk/dria/minus.

The nuker maps were an attempt to get stains to play something beyond junk/dria/minus, which has been successful after the respawn times of the nuke cars were increased to the point where it isn't a constant spam of novas and requires actual teamwork instead of one vehicle running the map.

The increased hp for specific vehicles for specific maps is a way to test potential changes to the vehicle balance. You wouldn't want a global change to the health of some vehicles, that would be insane. There was the whole argument that fliers are too op and tanks die too quick, so I made Tek with buffed up vehicle hp to test that argument (btw the levi had 20k hp and the mino had around 3k; nowhere near the insane values you made up). Tek now has normal vehicle health since all the op fliers were removed.

Enyo, you bitch and moan whenever anything new happens. It seems like you want the server to get stale like all the other ons servers that eventually died due to them running the same old maps for years without anything new. Trying new shit is a process, and there is no way it goes right the first time. Refusing anything remotely different from the norm is the most backward way of thinking there is.
